I randomly had the opportunity to get eyelash extensions a few weeks ago and I’m here to share the entire experience + answer some of y’all’s questions. Let’s get started!
First off, I hadn’t ever truly considered getting eyelash extensions because of the price. They can be super expensive (and I am a college student)! But one of my friends introduced me to Enso Salon in Pflugerville, Texas who had a great deal on Groupon, so we went.
At the start of the appointment, the technician made sure I didn’t have anything on my face or eyes. It’s important to have a clean face without any products or serums because the oils could impact the effectiveness of the glue. Next, you typically lay your head back in some way — at Enso Salon they have a little room with a cushioned table to lay down on. The technician then prepped my eyes by covering my lower lashes with sticky collagen pads which were actually so relaxing because they have a cooling effect.
The next step is the actual adhering of individual false lashes to your actual lashes. They do this one by one, so it can definitely take awhile. At Enso Salon it took about 15 minutes. It’s a pretty relaxing process though, you can barely feel it!
Typical post-lash-extension protocol: do not get your lashes wet in any way for 24 hours. They also give you a little clean mascara brush — I use mine every day to comb them out!
Does it hurt to get lash extensions?
Not at all! It is a little uncomfortable during the gluing process, but it does not hurt.
How much do lash extensions cost?
If you’re getting them done correctly and at full price, the first session is at least $100 and refills are between $50-100. I actually paid $45 for my first session because of the Groupon 😉
How long do lash extensions last?
After your first appointment, the extensions will last about 2-4 weeks. Salons usually suggest getting a refill every 3-4 weeks to maintain fullness. Some salons have special requirements for refill appointments — at Enso Salon, you have to have 40% of the lashes from your previous appointment to qualify for a refill.
How do lash extensions fall out?
Since the false lashes are glued to your actual lashes, they fall out when your natural lash does. It’s completely painless! But if you do decide to pull a stray one before it’s ready to fall out, prepare for some pain (and a tear or two lol).
Are lash extensions worth the money?
It totally depends! Lash extensions can be expensive and they require regular upkeep. They’ve also simplified my beauty routine (I rarely wear mascara or eyeliner) and made my life a lot easier. If you’re able to afford them and their maintenance, I think they’re definitely worth it!
As always, I hope this post was helpful and/or enjoyable! I’d love to hear any comments or questions about lash extensions or anything at all, so feel free to leave those below 🙂 Thanks for reading!
