It’s that time of year again, guys! Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 18th.
I love Father’s Day for many reasons, but mainly for the obvious one: an excuse to celebrate my awesome Dad who I consider the Best Dad in the World. Being the only guy in a family of five, we try to celebrate him as often as possible – he deserves it! My Dad always shares a bite of his food and makes silly faces and voices while dancing around the living room just to get me or my sisters to crack a smile. He’s edited countless papers of my sisters and mine through our years in high school and college and he’s pretty great at scooping ice cream.
My family has made a tradition of traveling to the Florida coast every summer around Father’s Day. We spend a week soaking in the surf and sand, laughing about stories from our childhood, playing Monopoly and Risk and just plain hanging out together. It isn’t always perfect – with a family of four women, there’s bound to be a spiff here or there – but we truly enjoy getting to relax, breathe in the salt air and be around each other despite all of our busy schedules.
Because of the Beach Trip, my family doesn’t usually celebrate Father’s Day with wrapped presents or extravagant gifts. I believe the best thing anyone could give their dad would be the gift of love, or simply just being there. I feel very lucky that my family has been able to make this trip every year for quite some time now.
But sometimes, Father’s Day is the best excuse for a cool drink floatie or much-needed-but-not-asked-for pair of flip flops… And for that reason, I’ve rounded up a few gift ideas for the father in your life!
